Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth President of the United States was one of the greatest men in American history.

Lincoln were very poor and Abraham was born in a log cabin in February 1909. He lived there until he was seven.

It is said that Abraham took his sweet, unselfish nature from his mother who taught him how to read and write. She died when he was quite a boy.

Lincoln realized the cruelty of slavery for the first time when he saw the Negroes being sold in the streets of New Orleons. They were chained together in gangs and beaten until the blood ran their backs. This made him very sad and he determined to bring and end to slavery.

When he became the president of America he fulfilled his cherished wish by freeing all the slaves in America. But the great work which the President had done was to lead to his death.
